If there is no suitable public transport connection in Saint-Saphorin, the hike can easily be done as an out-and-back route, doubling the total distance. <\/li><li>\u23f1\ufe0f <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Time<\/span>:<\/strong> The pure hiking time is about 2 hours. With photo stops and breaks, you should plan around 3 to 3.5 hours in total. <\/li><li><strong>\ud83d\udcca <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Elevation Gain and Loss<\/span>:<\/strong> Around 120 meters (394 ft) of ascent and 120 meters (394 ft) of descent.<\/li><li>\ud83e\udd75 <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Difficulty<\/span>:<\/strong> An easy hike on paved paths, ideal even for inexperienced hikers. The initial ascent can be a bit demanding, but you can follow the road to the next junction as an alternative. Along the way, plenty of benches invite you to take breaks and enjoy the views.  <\/li><li><strong>\ud83e\udd7e <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Equipment<\/span>: <\/strong>Comfortable hiking shoes, snacks or food, and a camera or smartphone for capturing the panoramic views.<\/li><li><strong>\ud83c\udf3f <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Trail Surface<\/span>:<\/strong> The hike is 6.8 km (4.2 mi) long, mostly on paved paths. Ideal for beginners and leisurely walkers. <\/li><li><strong data-start=\"337\" data-end=\"365\">\ud83d\udc68\u200d\ud83d\udc69\u200d\ud83d\udc67 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Family-Friendly<\/span>:<\/strong> The path is family friendly and suitable for strollers as it mostly follows paved lanes. Along the way there are many benches for breaks, safe paths with little traffic and beautiful viewpoints that also delight children.<\/li><li><strong data-start=\"657\" data-end=\"681\">\ud83d\udc15 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Hiking with Dogs<\/span>:<\/strong> Dogs are welcome and the path is easy to manage with no obstacles. Please be cautious when passing grazing cows.<\/li><li><strong>\ud83d\ude97 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Arrival:<\/span> <\/strong>The hike can be reached by car, but since it\u2019s a point-to-point trail, taking the train is more convenient. The starting point is Cully station, located right in the Lavaux vineyards. Even the train ride along Lake Geneva offers spectacular views. For the return trip, you can use the stations Saint-Saphorin, Vevey, or Montreux, all of which are directly on the SBB line between Lausanne and Brig.    <\/li><li><strong data-start=\"232\" data-end=\"246\">\ud83d\udcb0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Costs<\/span>:<\/strong> The hike is free. There is no entrance fee. Anyone who wants to explore the Lavaux vineyards at a relaxed pace can use the <strong data-start=\"1891\" data-end=\"1945\"><a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lavauxexpress.ch\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"1893\" data-end=\"1943\">Lavaux Express<\/a><\/strong>. During the ride there is interesting audio information about the region, its history and viticulture.<\/li><li><strong data-start=\"501\" data-end=\"533\">\ud83d\udccc <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Signposts &amp; markings<\/span>:<\/strong> The hiking trail is very well signposted. Getting lost is practically impossible. In addition you can follow the green route signs number 113 from SchweizMobil.<\/li><li><strong>\ud83e\udd8c <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Wildlife<\/span>:<\/strong> Between the vineyards, you\u2019ll often encounter cows and sheep, which are part of the typical Lavaux landscape.<\/li><li><strong>\ud83c\udf04 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Highlights<\/span>:<\/strong> My personal highlight was the endless Lavaux vineyards and the distinctive winegrowers\u2019 houses creating an atmosphere reminiscent of the southern French Mediterranean coast. The sunset over Lake Geneva is especially impressive. The light and vastness almost make you feel like you are standing by the sea. As seen in the photos, the afternoon and evening light is perfect for atmospheric views and photography.  <\/li><li><strong>\ud83c\udfe1 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Accommodation &amp; Restaurants<\/span>:<\/strong> There are no restaurants directly along the trail, but plenty of scenic benches perfect for a picnic. In villages like Saint-Saphorin or Cully, you can stop at local wine cellars to taste regional wines \u2014 for example at the <strong><a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.montreuxriviera.com\/de\/P10167\/weinkeller-caveau-des-vignerons\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"2333\" data-end=\"2430\">Caveau des Vignerons<\/a><\/strong> (open until the end of October).  <\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/details>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-49e63ad7 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"49e63ad7\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-66636382 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"66636382\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<p>The hike starts right at Cully station, where you step out and immediately find yourself in the middle of the Lavaux vineyards. A magical moment when the scent of grapes still lingers in the air. In autumn, the grapes are usually already harvested, but that\u2019s exactly when the vines turn into a glowing yellow-orange. At the very beginning, you have two options: either follow the road gently to the next junction or take the slightly steeper path up to Riex. On both sides stretch endless vineyards, and time and again the view opens down to Lake Geneva. <\/p>\n<p>For a more relaxed experience, you can also take a ride on the Lavaux Express tourist train, From here, the hike continues mostly through the terraced vineyards, offering ever-changing views of Lake Geneva and the Alps beyond. as the season had been unusually warm that year. Of course, this can vary depending on the weather, but in October you\u2019ll usually find pleasant temperatures and the colors at their best. <br><br>I can also highly recommend doing the hike in the afternoon or evening: the setting sun gives the Lavaux vineyards a very special atmosphere. With the mountains in the background, the trail leading towards Montreux, and the sun behind you, it creates a mood you won\u2019t forget anytime soon. A picturesque winegrowing village right on Lake Geneva. Its narrow, winding alleys and characteristic winegrowers\u2019 houses create an almost Mediterranean atmosphere. Particularly impressive is the Church of Saint-Symphorien, with origins dating back to the 10th century. Today, Saint-Saphorin is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Switzerland and is famous for its wine cellars, where you can taste regional wines. It quickly became clear why Saint-Saphorin is counted among the most beautiful villages in Switzerland: the narrow, unique alleys and the small restaurants give the place a very special charm. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"453\" data-end=\"836\">To end the day, we enjoyed a beautiful sunset above the village, with an epic view over Lake Geneva.
