You can start your autumn hike either at the parking lot by the old Olympic ski jump (Ristorante Peppino) or at the bus stop “St. Moritz Bad, Campingplatz.” If you arrive by bus, simply cross the street and follow the signposts in the direction of the campsite. From there, the yellow hiking trail markers will lead you to the first hidden lake: Lej Nair.
On the ascent, the path is covered with a thick layer of soft larch needles, transforming the forest trail into a golden fairy tale. Especially in autumn, this short hike feels like a trip into a magical world – with every step it softly crackles under your feet, and golden trees line your way to the quiet, black lake: Lej Nair.

The ascent to the first lake, Lej Nair, is about 100 meters (328 ft) in elevation and begins just after the impressive pedestrian bridge, which offers a spectacular view. From there, the path continues gently uphill. Around the lake, numerous benches invite you to sit down and take in the peaceful atmosphere. Especially in the morning, when everything is still quiet, Lej Nair often reflects the surrounding landscape like a dream – an unforgettable sight!

Most of the trail runs idyllically along the lake, with little chance of losing your way. After passing the barbecue area and the pedestrian bridge, you reach a small wooden bridge on the right, which you need to cross. Here, the gentle sound of a stream flowing into the lake accompanies you a particularly peaceful moment along the hike.

The striking wooden bridge stretches across a large part of the lake and offers a beautiful view of the still waters. Numerous benches along the trail invite you to pause, breathe deeply, and fully enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Lej Nair.

After circling Lej Nair, you cross the wooden bridge and continue towards the next lake, the small, hidden Lej Zuppo. Lying slightly higher up, it radiates a special magic even when frozen. The spot is perfect for a picnic or a relaxed BBQ surrounded by nature.

After circling the lake, you have two options: either continue to the fourth lake, the Hahnensee (Lej da Chöds), or return along the same path back to Lej Nair. The trail then passes Lej Nair once more before reaching a clearly marked junction that leads you to the final lake of this tour – Lej Marsch.

The picturesque Lej Marsch, also known as the swimming lake of St. Moritz Bad, lies right next to the parking area where your hike begins or ends. Like the other lakes along this route, it offers numerous barbecue spots and picnic tables. During the summer months, a small kiosk opens, serving refreshing drinks and tasty regional snacks.

Like the other lakes along this route, Lej Marsch features a wooden platform from which you can jump into the refreshing Alpine waters. It’s the perfect way to cool off after a summer hike under the Engadin sun.

After exploring all three lakes, you’ll return to the starting point in just five minutes. In the surrounding Engadin region, many more natural gems await. Including Lake Silvaplana, Lake St. Moritz, Lake Sils, and many more!
Perfect for day trips and scenic walks.
